Licences & attribution

This English version is a translation for information. If the versions differ, the German version is binding.

Map data

The node network shown is based on the open geodata of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia: the “Radverkehrsnetz NRW” dataset (node network), provided as open data at radverkehrsnetz.nrw.de.

The data is published under the Datenlizenz Deutschland – Zero – Version 2.0 (dl-zero-de/2.0). The licence does not require attribution; the state of North Rhine-Westphalia is credited voluntarily.

The region maps on the region pages — network lines, nodes and start points of the themed routes per region — are rendered from this dataset and are published under the same licence. Water and state border

Water and the state border on the region maps come from OpenStreetMap (as of 6 September 2026, ODbL 1.0, © OpenStreetMap contributors). The derived files: water.json, border.json.

Network data for the Netherlands

The Dutch node network (“fietsknooppunten”) comes from OpenStreetMap. We obtain it through a dated extract from Geofabrik — as of 1 August 2026, verified checksum 3a63e97535d3cc2d58f067900feb1c6d.

The data is published under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0: © OpenStreetMap contributors.

The ODbL requires derived databases to be made available under the same licence. We meet this by providing the network files derived from OpenStreetMap openly:

• nl_topology.bin — road network of the whole of the Netherlands, 10,594 nodes and 16,410 connections
• regions.json — index of all networks with source, licence and checksums

The files are in a dedicated, compact binary format for the app. We provide the format description on request — Contact.

Map in the app

The map in the app is displayed on iOS via Apple Maps (MapKit) and on Android via Google Maps. © Apple, © Google and map data providers.

Weather data

The weather information in the app comes from Apple Weather (data sources). Weather data may differ from the actual conditions. The weather information is used at your own risk.

Route photos

The route photos on the themed-route pages come from the Mapillary community and are published under the Creative Commons licence CC BY-SA 4.0.

Note on modifications: the images are downloaded, cropped to the section shown, scaled and stored as WebP files on our own servers. The credit with photographer, licence and note on modifications appears with each individual image.

Map images

The map images of the themed routes are rendered from OpenStreetMap tiles. The underlying data is published under the Open Database License (ODbL): © OpenStreetMap contributors.

Trademarks

Google Play and the Google Play logo are trademarks of Google LLC.
